Graduate Design Engineer (Fall Protection) - Grantham
Zarafa Group have been providing solutions for facade access and working at height safely for over 40 years. We have an opportunity for a Graduate Design Engineer to join the team based in Grantham, Lincolnshire. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary.
In this role you will be working on diverse and challenging projects with our Fall Protection department and on-site technicians to develop and maintain access solutions for the UK skyline.
You will be based in the Grantham design office but will also be required to work on site occasionally, as well as in our own manufacturing facility and the facilities of our suppliers.

The Graduate Design Engineer duties and key responsibilities:
- Carrying out Fall Protection System Design (including generating technical drawings) in line with current British Standards and regulations.
- Carrying out site-based reviews of existing Fall Protection Systems.
- You will take control of individual projects and see them through to completion through the design process.
- Verifying structural integrity of designed components.
- Develop and maintain compliant inspection regimes for existing and new installations.
- Liaising with suppliers, manufacturers and customers when necessary.
- Preparing detailed technical reports in line with requirements from current British Standards
- Maintaining and updating existing library of 2D drawings/technical data.
- Liaising with architects and design/project managers and providing them with necessary information.
Our ideal Graduate Design Engineer will have the below skills and experience:
- Qualification requirements – Bachelors Degree in structural or mechanical engineering (or similar)
- At least one work placement experience (preferably in construction/engineering
- Knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD tools (AutoCAD LT and SolidWorks preferred)Would you be comftable o
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- An enthusiasm for a technical challenge.
Working hours:
Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Due to an exciting period of growth we have a brand new opportunity for a Remedial Estimator to join our team in Grantham. Quality of service and safety are at the heart of what we do and this role can really add value to the Fall Protection division.
The Remedial Estimator plays a vital part in ensuring the safety of workers who operate at height, contributing to a safe and productive work environment.
You would assess damage, provide repair cost estimates, and ensure compliance with safety standards. This role involves inspecting existing system certification and documentation, identifying necessary repairs, and recommending solutions to ensure worker safety at height.
You must be comfortable working from height (at high-rise level) and be flexible to work across the UK as our service runs nationwide.
Job Specification
As a Remedial Estimator, you will join a team of experienced Fall Protection personnel. Previous experience working in a similar type of position within the Fall Protection Industry is desirable but not essential.
You must have a methodical, logical and practical approach to your work, with a commitment to quality and safety, whilst providing an excellent service to our clients. This is a varied role juggling multiple priorities at any one time, so enthusiasm, flexibility, a willingness to learn, initiative, the ability to multi-task and a desire to achieve deadlines are essential.
Requirements of the Remedial Estimator position:
• You must have a strong mechanical background; working on and understanding equipment such as safety lines, eye bolt anchors, handrails, ladders, walkways, anchors would be a distinct advantage
• You must have a desire to work safely at all times and align with our industry safety standards
• Previous experience of working at height desired but not essential, however you must be comfortable being outdoors and working at height.
• You must be a key team player
• You must be willing to be involved in our company supported education and training programme.
• Travel around the UK is essential.
• Right to work in the UK is essential
• Driving Licence is essential
Key responsibilities
• Inspection and Assessment of Fall Protection systems, including certification to identify damage or non-compliance
• Fault Finding to determine cause of system failures
• Liaise with the inspection & engineering teams
• Provide detailed and accurate repair Estimates to clients
• Ensure all repairs and installations adhere to relevant British Standards, Work at Height Regulations, and other applicable safety guidelines and compliance.
• Reporting your findings in a clear and concise format
• Client Communication: Presenting solutions to clients, providing professional advice while building positive relationships.
• In some cases, you may be involved in the installation and maintenance of new or repaired systems. You must be competent using power tools if required.
• May provide sales support by identifying opportunities for system upgrades or new installations during site visits.
Skills & Qualifications
• Technical Knowledge and understanding of Fall Protection systems, their components, and installation procedures.
• Previous experience in Fall Protection, construction, or related fields is desirable, but not essential.
• Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of work at height regulations, risk assessment, and safe working practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
• Ability to identify and resolve technical issues related to Fall Protection systems.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and maintain accurate records.

The Role
We are recruiting a Technical Manager to support the delivery of complex technical service and maintenance contracts by demonstrating hands-on mechanical and/or electrical experience. The role requires a practically minded individual from an engineering or construction background who can attend sites, assess technical requirements, troubleshoot issues, and develop accurate, commercially viable scopes of work. At the same time, the successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and external clients to manage the supporting contractual and compliance processes. This is a long-term opportunity to play a central role in a specialist engineering-led business, bridging operational delivery and commercial performance.
You don’t need to be the finished article from day one. We’re looking for someone with the right mindset — hands-on, technically curious, and eager to learn. With our full support and internal training, you’ll develop the skills to solve technical issues, manage contract and compliance documents and help shape commercially viable scopes of work.
Key Responsibilities
• Assess and interpret site-based technical requirements, using hands-on engineering experience to develop accurate scopes of work, troubleshoot issues, and ensure solutions are practical, safe, and commercially viable.
• Bridge the gap between engineering operations and commercial administration, ensuring technical information is accurately processed, communicated, and actioned.
• Support the Contracts Manager and wider team in managing work programmes, contract documentation, compliance records, service reporting and site issues.
• Support the creation of RAMS, permits, work plans and service documentation
• Assist in planning and scheduling technical jobs using our cloud-based systems
• Attend site visits to assess conditions, diagnose technical issues, and determine appropriate scopes of work with input from the engineering team.
• Learn to scope works on-site and support our engineers with technical assessments
• Liaise with clients, engineers, and suppliers on project progress and documentation
• Help prepare quotes, raise purchase orders, contract renewals and submit invoices
• Take part in compliance processes including ISO and industry accreditations
• You’ll also support a range of office tasks that help ensure smooth operations and provide a compliant, high-quality service for our clients.
